Here we are with multiple inboxes. ALL of modern communications literally at our fingertips.
And we still have to “go digging” for that missing document or asset, that process description only one stakeholder has, that “tribal knowledge” that is somehow not common knowledge in the organization.
This scenario is not only commonplace in businesses of all sizes –I’ve seen it in small mom-and-pops, medium businesses, and global enterprises, but widely accepted, even justified.
“We’ve always done it this way”
“Just reach out to ____”
“It’s in the server”
Sigh.
If we’re going to prioritize the team to get work done, be more productive, delight customers, and grow, we must build a “Push Notifications” culture in real life.
Don’t expect or wait for the requests for access, introductions, information, etc. Let us anticipate our teammate’s needs and “push” their way that precise link to the repository, that connection, that wiki. “Push” IRL gives your team the resources for remote work (and work in general) to work for the business.
